Domaine La Mavelynière – Reception room and Group cottage lodging close to Chartres. Enter the old “Maison Forte” of Poisvilliers.
Without being a castle, it served as a refuge in the Middle Ages during attacks by bandits.
Time has passed… In the 17th and 18th centuries it was a robust farm that was closed in the evening and even the famous Orgères band did not risk it. Only a fire in the middle of the 19th century destroyed a quarter of the buildings. But the owners did not give up, they erected a majestic barn and superb sheepfolds on the ruins of the dovecote and the old burnt buildings.
Today, Marie and Rodolphe make you participate in the history of their farm and you can dine while warming yourself over the wood fire that their ancestors used to smoke andouille and other pieces of fatty bacon.
The other lodging was built in place of the forge which saw so many ploughshares, reddened by the flame and struck by the hammer, finding the edge necessary to turn the earth well.
Finally, receive your friends in this beautiful room where the framework has not changed for three centuries. It was once used to store the beets that a rustic machine cut into strips which, mixed with wheat bale, fed the sheep who were waiting, greedy, the familiar noise announcing their meals and made them bleat with pleasure by imagining in advance this delicious meal.
